HERAT (Ariana News): Local officials in Herat say the media monitoring and support committee in this province, in cooperation with the UNAMA office in the western zone of the country, has launched a joint discussion program between journalists and spokesmen of government departments.
Herat officials said the purpose of the discussions is to bring journalists closer to the press departments of government offices.
“The purpose of holding this program is [to provide] better and easier access of journalists to information in government offices. It will undoubtedly be effective,” said Shamil Ahmad Mashal, the head of the committee.
“The purpose of the program is clear, and we have gathered journalists and broadcasting officials or spokespersons of local departments to help them understand each other and to have more cooperation and coordination among themselves,” said Tomoko Kubota, the UNAMA’s head for the province.
Ahmadullah Muttaqi, the head of information and culture in Herat also stated that there are no restrictions on journalists and media to cover stories.
“Everyone is given freedom within the framework of the law. There is no limit,” he said.
Meanwhile, the participants expressed hope that such programs should continue to solve the problems that exist in the work of the media and the activities of journalists.
