District council announce Rs 2 million for family of raped Asma

MARDAN: District Council Mardan announced Rs. 02 millions as compensation money for raped 4-years old victim ‘Asma’ and Rs.500000 each for four other minor victims who had been murdered after assault in different incidents cross the district few months back.

District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar advocate had called meeting of the district council on Monday to hold debates following by taking effective measures regarding the cruel and inhuman incident of four-years old baby girl Asma who had been strangulated after rape by unknown rapist on the evening of January 13 of the current month.

At the meeting, various district council male and female members belonging to Awami National Party, Pakistan People Party, Jamiat Uelam-i-Isalm-F, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League-N  and others members while speaking strongly condemned the murder and rape incidents happened to various baby girls of the district during the last couple of months.

Apart from Asma, the other minor victims who were murdered after rape included 9-years old Shab-i-Noor of Katigari Lundkhwar area, 5-years old Maryam bibi of Chakaropul area, 6-yeaers old Husna of Balagari locality, and 6-yeaers old Shabnam of Hatyaan area.

On the occasion, the district council members lamented that only the alleged two rapists in case of Shab-i-Noor were behind the bars at the moment while the rest of accused had gotten bail in their cases due to lacunas in legal process and system.

They asked the provincial government and police high-ups to immediately arrest the real perpetrators in case of Asma  and hanged them openly in public so that to make it an example for others meant to avoid such incident in future.

Addressing the meeting, District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar stressed relevant authorities to not only make police interrogation and investigation system as an effective one but also train police officials in this connection.

He asked departments of education and social welfare to take steps for creating awareness among children about their protection and violence against them.

Mr. Mayar urged the PTI-led provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to remove lacunas in legislation regarding child abuse and violence, besides, to make those legislation as per rules and regulations of Islamic Ideological council.

He, however, also stressed members of district, tehsil, village and neighborhood councils to use all their resources for awareness against child abuse and violence in the society.

”I demands from chief justice of Pakistan to take sue-moto action against incidents of child abuse,” he said, adding that he also demanded for re-investigations in cases of Shab-i-Noot, Maryam bibi, Husna and Shabnam.

The district council Mardan through unanimous resolution approved Rs.02 million for Asma and Rs. 500000 each for other four baby girl victims of the district.

The district council convener, Asad Ali Kashmiri, however postponed the meeting for indefinite period.
