PESHAWAR: Doctor entered third day of the protest in all major government hospitals of Peshawar on Friday after the brawl between doctors and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan took place few days ago.
Due to the strike of doctors, the patients coming from remote areas faced difficulties as outpatient departments (OPDs) and other departments suspended their services due to the protest.
According to the details, the disputes between both parties were not resolved which resulted into boycott of OPDs for third consecutive day.
On May 15, the doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) got into a brawl with KP Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan, Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH)’s Board of Governors (BoG) Chairman Dr Nausherwan Khan Burki at the KTH.
Provincial Information Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that OPDs will open at any cost and if someone tries to meddle in the way then they will be handled accordingly.
Information Minister even dismissed the demand for the resignation of Health Minister and Dr Nausherwan Khan Burki.
According to details, Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan and Dr Nausherwan Khan Burki visited the hospital meanwhile the doctors raised protest to get their demands fulfilled.
The protest turned into a duel. The doctors accused the health minister of torture as one of their colleagues was allegedly injured.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took notice of the incident and summoned report after ordering an immediate inquiry. The CM has further directed to take strict action against the responsible persons.
