LANDI KOTAL: The two mother and daughter doctors who have been posted in Waziristan as health workers demanded of the authorities concerned to provide them security as they have received threats while executing their professional duties.
Doctor TasleemShabir wife of Col ShabirHussain, resident of old defense officer colony, Khyber road, Peshawar said that she and her daughter, MaleenaAnum were performing their duties as gynecologist and children specialist respectively in Sheikh Fatima Bin Mubarak Hospital Wana, North Waziristan where they were threatening by unknown persons by carrying out anti-polio campaign in the area.
She said that they had been warned to give up polio drive or face the consequences.
“We have lodged an application against it in police station, Michni gate, Peshawar that has been forward to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for further process,” she remarked.
She maintained that it was not the first happen but in 2011, they had been barred from conducting the polio campaign in Karak district, when they were performing duty.
The effected women demanded of the government to provide them security of the anti-social elements and let them execute their duties with concentration and devotion.
