KABUL: The documents of four ministers-designate and two Supreme Court members, President Ashraf Ghani’s nominees, have reached the Wolesi Jirga and may be introduced next week, the lower house said on Monday.

Several key ministries including the Ministry of Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs are currently being headed by acting ministers.

The ministries of education, information and cultural, finance, mines and petroleum, energy, housing and urban development are also run by acting heads.

Wolesi Jirga Second Deputy Speaker Amir Khan Yar said the documents of Asadullah Khalid, Amrullah Saleh, Mirwais Balkhi, Hasina Safi, and two Supreme Court members Anesa Rasouli and Abdul Shakor Mahjor had landed in the house and the commission concerned had been reminded about the documents.

He hoped introduction of the ministers-designate whose documents had arrived at the lower house might be put on agenda next week.

Abdul Rauf Enami, a lawmaker from Badakhshan province, said acting ministers were not answerable to the parliament. He asked colleagues to ensure the rule of law because little time remained in the incumbent house’s extended mandate. (Pajhwok)
