Domestic Violence in Afghanistan: At least 4 women killed in Past week

KABUL (Khaama Press): At least four women lost their lives in the past week as a result of domestic violence in several provinces of Afghanistan.

In the latest incident, the security commander of Nangarhar province announced that a man had fatally shot his wife and daughter in Jalalabad city, the capital of this province. The motive behind this act has not yet been clarified.

Meanwhile, rumors surrounding the murder of a woman on March 19 last year in Nangarhar province have led to the killing of another woman.

Abdul Basir Zabuli, the spokesman for the Nangarhar security command, had stated that these two women were “exchanged.” After the rumor of one of them being murdered spread, the father and brothers of the murdered woman killed the other woman by stabbing, who was going to be their bride.

He further stated that the second woman and two others have been arrested in this case. Additionally, a man has murdered his wife in Paktika province.

Sources say that on March 21, a man murdered his wife during Iftar in the city of Sharana, the capital of this province, following verbal disputes between the husband and wife.

Although officials from the Taliban in Paktika have not commented on this incident, it is worth mentioning that Pakistani attacks in the past week in the provinces of Khost and Paktika have resulted in the deaths of five women.

Domestic violence is one of the most prevalent and widespread forms of violence in Afghanistan, primarily targeting women.
