KABUL (Pajhwok): The Economic Commission has approved the draft National Mineral Policy and amended the scope of the contract for completing the remaining works of a 500 KV power transmission line extension project from Shiberghan to Alwan Dashti area.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in a statement on Sunday said a regular meeting of the Economic Commission was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
The meeting approved the draft National Mineral Policy related to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Objectives of this policy are standard exploration and exploitation of minerals; attracting domestic and foreign investors and importing new mining technologies and equipment.
Its other objectives include protecting the environment and ensuring the health and safety of miners, preparing the ground for the processing of minerals within the country and to train and increase the capacity of specialized and technical human resources for the mining sector.
The statement said the meeting also deliberated upon amending the scope of the contract for the completion of the remaining works of the 500 kV transmission line extension project from Shiberghan to Alwan Dashti area and necessary amendments were made.
The meeting was presented reports about preliminary feasibility studies of the second phase of the Kamal Khan Dam and Qala Afzal Dam, and the committees appointed to determine the needs in the country’s ports, and these decisions were sent to the leadership office for final approval.
