At least five killed in US drone attack in Kurram Agency

GHUZ GHARI (Monitoring Desk): At least five people were reported killed in a drone attack, which took in Kurram Agency, Monday evening.

The strike targetted a house, five bodies were recovered from the rubble, according to local residents. A militant commander was also reportedly killed in the drone attack.

Kurram Agency Political Agent Baseer Khan Wazir had told local tv channel that the drone strike took place in Pakistani territory, six kilometres from the Afghan border.

Officials said the strike took place in remote Ghuz Ghari village in Kurram agency, close to the Afghan border where at least five fighters from the Afghan Taliban had gathered.

Some sources told AIP that three gunmen were killed and two more sustained injuries in the blitz. They belonged to the group of Haqqani network commander identified as Abu Bakr.

The foreign forces stationed in Afghanistan and the Taliban have not said anything in this regard so far. It is pertinent to mention here that three Haqqani network gunmen were killed in a drone strike in the same area on September 16.

The house of Maulvi Mohibullah had been targeted in the strike. A Haqqani network commander identified as Abu Bakr Umar was killed in a dronestrike in Hangu area of Pakistan on June 13.
