Drones to be used on Motorway against speedy drivers

ISLAMABAD: Motorway police have decided to use drones against the speedy drivers and violators of the traffic laws.

Inspector General of Motorway Police Khalid Mehmood on Tuesday said that there will be heavy fines for speeding vehicles on the motorway.

He said traffic violators will be dealt with severely with the use of modern technology, adding that he has given direction to make patrolling more efficient with the help of drone technology.

IG Motorway Police Khalid Mahmood said the Body-Worn Cameras are also being activated on all national highways of Pakistan and police officers equipped with modern equipment are checking for violations of traffic rules.

The Motorway police chief further stated that the data of passenger vehicle companies is being stored in the PSV management system and drivers of passenger vehicles will face severe legal action for using the third consecutive lane.

While the spokesman of the Motorway police has said the tracking of buses, record of necessary information of drivers is also being compiled.

The spokesperson said records of important documents including vehicle registration, route permits are also being preserved.
