F.P. Report

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday dismissed criticism by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders regarding unsafe transportation of Agha Siraj Durrani from jail to the court.

In a statement, the NAB spokesperson clarified that Durrani was brought to the court in an armoured vehicle.

“The security of the Agha Siraj Durrani is very important to us,” he added.

The spokesperson rejected claims made by the PPP leaders regarding transportation of the Sindh Assembly speaker.

He said all legal provisions were fulfilled to move any suspect to the court.

The NAB spokesperson further said Agha Siraj Durrani was kept in a clean condition during his physical remand.

Earlier in the day, the accountability court rejected the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for extension in physical remand of Agha Siraj Durrani and sent him to jail till April 26.

The NAB officials produced Speaker Sindh Assembly Siraj Durrani before the accountability court today.

A large number of People’s Party workers were present at the court premises chanting slogans in support of the arrested party leader.

The NAB pleaded to the court for 15 days’ extension in physical remand of Durrani. The court after arguments of lawyers rejected the request of the bureau and ordered the accused to be sent to jail on judicial remand till April 26.
