EC set up 77 display centers in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: The election commission of Pakistan has set up 77 display centers in the district and adjacent frontier tribal region to review electoral rolls. ECP has appointed district election commissioner Syed Zahoor as registration officer with five assistant registration officers including headmasters Saifullah Khan and Faizullah Khan and ASDEOs Hamidullah Khan, Hashim Khan and Habibur Rehman to review complaints for enrolment or discharge of votes.

Assistant commissioner Muhammad Shayan Ali Jawa has been appointed as revising officer for Lakki tehsil, additional assistant commissioner Muhammad Israr for Naurang tehsil and assistant political agent Riaz Muhammad for frontier tribal region. Around 220 verification officials along with 55 supervisors have been deployed at display centres to conduct the activity of registering new votes and rejection and correction of votes. “The electoral rolls will remain displayed at display centres till April 24 for the facilitation of local people”, said DEC Syed Zahoor Shah. He said that citizens had the opportunity to review their votes and get them corrected if needed.

Criminal held: A hardened criminal arrested by Interpol in Dubai has been handed over to Lakki Marwat police in Islamabad, said an official on Saturday. The official said that the wanted man Zaheer had fled the country after committing murder and attempting murder cases in Tajori town in 2015. He said that DPO Arif Shebaz Khan approached provincial police officer to ensure arrest of the killer through Interpol when he received credible information about his abode in Dubai.

“The provincial police authorities approached Interpol and the outlaw was arrested from Dubai”, he maintained, adding that Zaheer was brought back to Pakistan and was handed over to Lakki Marwat police on Benazir International airport in Islamabad.
