Contempt case against Imran: ECP postpones decision until Oct 12

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) postpones its decision in the contempt of court case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan until the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decides on the party’s petition regarding the proceedings.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan, resumed hearing the case on Wednesday and adjourned the hearing till October 12.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) adjourned the hearing on 11 October regarding the case on the same issue until 11. After taking a short break, the ECP also adjourned the hearing until October 12.

The CEC observed that it will issue its order in the contempt case if the IHC does not decide the case on October 11.

Imran’s counsel Babar Awan, who has been appearing in the case, was also ordered to complete his arguments at the next hearing.
