ECP stops Ali Amin Gandapur’s brother from contesting LG polls

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday disqualified Ali Amin Gandapur’s brother Umar Amin to contest Dera Ismail Khan Tehsil Mayor candidate after breaching of ECP code of conduct.

ECP also said that Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur will not be able to take part in any political activity in DI Khan.

However, the federal minister has been allowed to enter DI Khan, ECP announced the reserved verdict. ECP Chief Election Commissioner announced the short verdict on Monday.

Earlier, the ECP took notice of repeated ’violations’ of the local bodies elections’ code of conduct by federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur and summoned the minister for appearing before the commission on Feb 1.

In the first hearing, Gandapur skipped the case hearing after his lawyers told the ECP that Gandapur contracted COVID-19. However in the second hearing, an ECP reserved the verdict.
