Education board workers continue strike

TIMERGARA: The employees of board of intermediate and secondary education (BISE) Malakand Chakdara on Monday continued their token strike on 17th consecutive day and boycotted duties after 2 PM against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa proposed boards’ act, forcing the visitors to return hopelessly.

The protesting employees threatened to boycott the upcoming intermediate examinations if the government failed to accept their demands till April, 20. The board’s employees wore black arm bands and staged a protest rally on the board premises.

Speaking on the occasion leaders of the protesting employees alleged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had planned to abolish boards’ autonomy and wanted to bring them under the control of education secretariat.

They said the proposed act of the government would hurt the autonomous status of educational boards in the province which would increase miseries of students, parents and teachers as well. They said they would not let the government to implement Adam Smith educational policy that was aimed at disturbing the boards’ examination system. The employees also threatened to state protest rallies at Bani Gala near Imran Khan’s residence if the government did not reverse its decision regarding changes in boards’ act.
