Egyptian envoy, foreign minister discuss bilateral cooperation, ties

KABUL: Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Idrees Zaman has discussed bilateral cooperation with Egypt ambassador to Kabul, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Thursday.

The statement said that the meeting focused on a wide range of issues, including bilateral cooperation, common interests, and ways to address common concerns.

Deputy Foreign Minister Zaman recalled the historical ties between Afghanistan and Egypt and commended the areas of bilateral cooperation as important, the source said.

The statement said that Zaman briefed the Egyptian envoy, Mostafa Ahmad on the upcoming Kabul Process’s 3rd meeting and said Egypt’s deputy foreign minister would be invited to the event.

Stressing the need for bolstering cooperation between the two countries, the two sides discussed new areas of cooperation regarding economy and culture, it said.

Mostafa informed Zaman of a MoU being finalized for signing between the two countries, which provides bilateral cooperation in all cultural areas including in archeology, the statement concluded. (Pajhwok)
