Eight dead as truck rams cyclist in New York

NEW YORK: As many as eight people were killed and more than 11 were injured Manhattan after a driver of truck intentionally guided his vehicle into a bike path.

After the attack the driver jumped from the vehicle and ran up towards highway but he was shot by police in the abdomen and arrested him in injured condition.

The arrested suspect is identified as Sayfullo Habibullaevic and he is an Uzbek national who came to US in 2010. Media reported that he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

The arrested suspect was heard of shouting “Allahu Akbar” before he was shot. Media also reported that a note was found from the crime scene said that the attack was carried out by the ISIS. However the officials said that they have yet to find evidence of direct ties between the arrested driver and ISIS.

Mayor New York, Bill de Blasio told media persons that this was an act of terror and particularly cowardly act of terror as they attacked the innocent civilians who had no idea what was about to hit him.
