KARACHI: The accountability court indicted eight former police officials in a reference filed against them for illegal recruitment in the police department.
The suspects indicted by accountability court, including former Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ghulam Haider Jamali and former Assistant Inspector General of Police (Finance) Syed Fida Hussain Shah.
The suspects rejected the charges against them after that the court was adjourned the hearing on November 8. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused the former IGP and then finance AIG Fida Hussain Shah and six other police officials for recruiting 81 illegal personnel in the department and causing a loss of over Rs 50 million to the national exchequer.
The Supreme Court appointed a three-member fact-finding committee to identify illegalities in the recruitment process and later referred the matter to NAB.
