LANDI KOTAL: Elders staged protest demonstration against expecting visit of Deputy Police Officer (DPO) in Jamrud on Friday. They were on the views that the since first day, they had reservation over decision of merging of ex-tribal regions into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) because it had been taken in hurry and without taking them onboard.

Scores of elites leaded by Malik Israr, Malik Salahuddin, Malik Faizullah while chanting slogans in favor of their demands denounced expecting visit of DPO in Jamrud. Speaking on the occasion the elders said that as compare to the old system, their rights would not be safeguarded with merging of tribal region in KP and it was the reason that they stood against it.

They condemned the promotion procedure of Khasadar force and said the Khasadar troops were allegedly unlawfully promoted to Station House Officer (SHOs) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs) and they would move to the court against the decision. “People fed up of police system in down towns so how will the system benefit residents of ex-merged areas”, they questioned. The elders convened a massive consultation jirga on Sunday in which they would formulate future strategy.
