Election on Tareen’s seat

ISLAMABAD: Following the disqualification of Jehangir Tareen by the Supreme Court, ECP is bound to release the election schedule in NA 154 till 7 February. Before the ensuing general elections of 2018, NA 154 by-election between PML-N and PTI will determine the future of both the parties.

ECP sources told Online that ECP is bound under article 224 of the constitution.  In this connection Central Election Commission should advise the provincial Election Commission. Meanwhile, Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad while talking to this scribe told that ensuing elections will be held in 2018. He said sufficient time is available and he sees no reason that the people of Lodharan NA 154 will remain sans their representative. He said it is the responsibility of Central, Provincial Election Commissions and government to hold elections soon. He said the people of Lahore are still deprived of their leader Kulsoom Nawaz and waiting for her oath taking ceremony.
