Emirati soldier killed in Yemen

Ahmed al-Masri

DOHA: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said Sunday a soldier was killed in war-torn Yemen.

The official WAM news agency cited a statement by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) military command announcing the soldier’s death, but gave no details about the circumstances of his death.

The UAE is a member of a Saudi-led military coalition that has been pounding positions of Houthi rebels across Yemen since 2015.

Yemen has been racked by chaos since late 2014, when the Shia Houthi group overran much of the country, including capital Sanaa, forcing the Saudi-backed government to flee to Riyadh. (AA)
