Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qmar Javed Bajwa said that armed forces are professionally capable and vigilant to give a befitting response to the enemies of Pakistan to defeat their evil designs. He was addressing the firepower and maneuverability demonstration of third generation Chines TV -4 tank at the Field Firing Range near Jehlum. The main battle tank has been inducted in the weapon system of army, which is a potent war machine for performing offensive role by strike formations.
The COAS touched upon the external and internal threats to security and sovereignty of the country and said that armed forces are completely focused towards these challenges.
The external and internal threats have been created by India by keeping the tension high on the Line of Control and sponsoring terrorist activities in Pakistan, particularly in Baluchistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. Firing by Indian troops with heavy weapons along the line of control (LOC) has gained momentum and is almost a daily occurrence, targeting military posts and civilian population in Azad Kashmir.
BJP government foreign policy being conducted in this region under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gimmickry synonymous with the proverb, “A wolf in sheep clothing.” Over the past seven years, the ruling BJP leadership has demonstrated a belligerent attitude towards Pakistan, throwing into the ocean the famous “Gujral Doctrine” of former outstanding intellectual Indian Prime Minister Dr. Inder Kumar Gujral, which envisages amicable resolution of territorial disputes by India with its small neighbour countries. Ceasefire violations of line of control are made on daily basis in addition to a number of false flag operations, blaming them on Pakistan with cliché narrative of its involvement in cross-border terrorism.
Successive Indian Army Chiefs have sung the mantra of preparing for two front wars. Contrary to such claims, the defence policy of India is Pakistan specific, given the lack of military muscle to take on China as proved by debacle in Galwam Valley in the Ladakh region. The current Army Chief of India General Manoj Mukand Narvan repeated the two front wars theory in his first press conference after taking over the command last December. A new mountain Corp of 100,000 soldiers for deployment along the border with Pakistan in occupied Kashmir.
India has visible role of sponsoring terrorism in the region for which it is using militant outfits that have safe heavens in Afghanistan. The surge in militancy in the merged districts of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and restive Baluchistan province bear testimony to it. People have full trust and confidence in the professional competence and operational readiness of their armed forces.
