PESHAWAR: A contingent of young engineers from UET Peshawar, NUST Islamabad and other renowned engineering institutes stated protest against the autocratic and biased attitude of National Engineering Council and asked Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to direct probe against ongoing malpractices in it.
While holding protest in favor of their demands in front of Peshawar Press Club, they asked Chief Minister to provide jobs, proper service structure and employment opportunities in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Bus Rapid Transit projects to fresh graduated
engineers.
The young engineers were holding ply cards inscribed with anti- NEC remarks and job-seeking remarks while chanting slogan in favor of their demands. While talking to media, Abdul Rahman said on the occasion that engineers are builder of nations but unfortunately, in Pakistan, the engineering profession is being neglected.
The engineering community, he said has suffered a lot because of unemployment and they are leaving the country thus leading to brain drain and the remaining are at the mercy of the private companies and other departments who violate their rights. He added that as a result of growing unemployment a young Aizaz graduate of mechanical engineering from NUST Islamabad committed suicide.
He demanded complete overhaul of Pakistan Engineering Council as it became a hub of handpicked persons, proper service structure for engineers, employment opportunities for fresh engineers, fixed stipend as of fresh graduate doctors for engineers till the fresh engineer get job.
