England’s IPL players’ unlikely for Pakistan tour

Monitoring Desk

KARACHI: England players contracted with IPL franchises are unlikely to tour Pakistan in October as England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have formally confirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they have no objection to their players participating in the cash-rich league, when it resumes in UAE from September 19 to October 15, reported CricBuzz.
The IPL was suspended in May as India was hit by a massive Covid-19 wave and the pandemic affected cricket tours around the world. The England men’s side will visit Pakistan in October for two Twenty20 Internationals.
Both matches will be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on 13 and 14 October.
BCCI has already informed the franchises that their contracted players from England will be available to them for the entire duration of the league. “We have got a call from the IPL office and have been informed that the boards have no objection to their players’ participation. It is now up to the players,” Kasi Viswanathan of Chennai Super Kings told Cricbuzz.
“Our Australian and English players [Jason Behrendorff, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali] are available,” Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon said. New Zealand has also left out the IPL contracted players from their ODI and T20I squad, scheduled to tour Pakistan for the limited-overs series from September 17 to October 3.
