Erdogan, Putin discuss security guarantees

MOSCOW (TASS): In a telephone conversation, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan summed up the main results of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Turkey. This was announced on Sunday by the Kremlin press service.
“Having exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the coming New Year, Putin and Erdogan su-mmed up the main results of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further intensify the mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Turkey,” the message says. It was agreed to continue personal contacts, the Kremlin added.
In a telephone conversation, Putin and Erdogan touched upon such topics as proposals for the development of legally formalized agreements guaranteeing the security of Russia, the situation in the Trans-caucasus, and settlement issues in Syria and Libya. This was announced by the Kremlin press service.
“International topics were also touched upon, including the well-known proposals for the development of legally formalized agreements guaranteeing the security of the Russian Federation, the situation in the Transcaucasus, issues of the Syrian and Libyan settlement,” statement says.
As reported in the office of the Turkish leader, the talks between the presidents were devoted to steps to improve Turkish-Russian relations. “They discussed regional issues and international events, in particular in the Caucasus, Syria and Libya. The leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to intensify Turkish-Russian cooperation in all areas,” the office said in a statement.
