DOHA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey will continue its military support for Qatar amid the ongoing political crisis in the Gulf. This he said during his visit to Doha on Wednesday.
The Qatar News Agency reported that Erdogan also given signals that Turkey private sector is ready to assist Qatar with its multi-billion projects for the 2022 football World Cup. He held talks with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim-bin-Hamad al-Thani during the visit.
The QNA reported that both the countries signed number of financial, tourism and other agreements. Erdogan stressed that Turkey will continue its support towards Qatar in different fields especially in military and Industrial. Erdogan also visited Turkish military base in Doha along with senior Qatari officials and said on the occasion that Turkey consider Qatar a close ally and we will continue to strengthen our relationship with every passing day.
This is Erdogan’s second visit to Qatar since five months back the regional crisis started and threatening to destabilize the Gulf region.
Erdogan was in Qatar 24 hours after visiting Kuwait, which has acted as a mediator during the Gulf dispute. Relations between Turkey and Qatar are exceptionally friendly.
