Ex-Dy speaker KP arrested from court’s premises

PESHAWAR: Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mahmood Jan was taken into custody after the rejection of an interim bail plea in the murder and attempt to murder case by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Peshawar, on Monday.
ATC Peshawar Judge Jahan Zeb Shinwari turndown interim plea while police had arrested Mahmood Jan from the premises of court. According to prosecution, former Speaker Mahmood Jan had alleged killed Muhammad Ali while injuring one other over land dispute. First Information Report (FIR) has registered against Mahmood Jan at Regi police station in this regard.
Former Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mahmood Jan had approached ATC seeking interim bail but arrested from the court’s premises after rejection of plea. It is worthy to mention, police will produce former deputy speaker Mahmood Jan before court for obtaining physical remand to investigate him.
Meanwhile, ATC had adjourned hearing on plea bail of Kamran Bangash till 25th October in cases of opening firing on police and hiding former Federal Minister Murad Saeed in his Hujra while ordering respondents for submission of record. The counsel Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah and Ali Zaman Advocates argued that FIR registered against Kamran Bangash is baseless while adding that three persons are already discharged from the allegation by honorable court.
ATC Peshawar Judge Muhammad Adil Khan ordered submission of records in this regard after initial arguments. Moreover, Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Peshawar Babar Ali Khan had grant bail to three former Members Provincial Assembly (MPAs) in the illegal recruitment case and ordered their release.
According to prosecution, MPAs named Malak Liaqat, Azam Khan and Shafiullah had recruited 24 employees at education’s department illegally which caused a loss of Rs14.3 million to national exchequer. Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Peshawar Babar Ali Khan accepted bail pleas of former MPAs and ordered their release.
