Ex-ISI chief Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar takes early retirement

RAWALPINDI: President of the National Defence University and former chief of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, will likely to take early retirement as he requested for early retirement from the Pakistan Army.

Local news channel reported early Sunday that Lt Gen Akhtar Rizwan is taking the retirement due to some personal commitments. Akhtar Rizwan was due to retire in October next year.

Former ISI chief in his request has said with the heavy heart I requested for a premature retirement but with full confidence after serving 35 years in the armed forces.

Lt Gen Akhtar Rizwan is likely to be release from duty tomorrow.
