Extra health officials deploy at Torkham border

LANDI KOTAL In order to contain the spread of omicron, a new strain of coronavirus, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to double its health officials at Pak-Afghan bordering point in Torkham to have close check on pedestrian movement.

A news release and a video message issued by KP health department on Friday said that the 130 beds isolation center in Landi Kotal headquarter hospital has been made functional to facilitate the possible suspected patients. Focal Person of KP health department on corona, Dr Ikramullah Khan in his video message said screening and vaccination of every single pedestrian entering into Pakistan via Torkham bordering point is in progress.

He said all those crossing the point are permitted after going through necessary screening and tests. He informed that single shot vaccination is administered to all pedestrians coming to Pakistan and corona positive persons are restricted at the border.

Similarly, officials deputed on Torkham bordering point have said that 892 persons have been screened and 729 have been administered a vaccine against coronavirus.

Furthermore, two Afghan citizens who were entering into Pakistan via Torkham border point were sent back after their tests were corona positive.
