LAHORE (APP): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that the PCB may consider Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad as new venue for the next edition of the Pakistan Super League considering the passion for cricket of the local fans.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the PCB headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium here on Saturday, he said the PCB will review the possibility of conducting PSL matches at Iqbal stadium, adding that he was awed by the spirit of the cricket fans in Faisalabad during the ongoing Champions One Day Cup.
The PSL matches have been played in Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi in the past so far while Peshawar, being the home-town of Peshawar Zalmi, is another candidate to hold PSL matches.
The Chairman PCB directed to constitute certain committees for the successful conduct of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by the PCB, adding that the TORs of the committees should be finalized immediately so that these may start work.
‘World’s best teams will visit Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy and the arrangements should be perfect,’ Naqvi said.
The meeting also reviewed progress of the ongoing Bahria Town Champions Cup and the upgradation of the cricket stadiums in the Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.
Chairman PCB said that no stone should be left unturned in order to complete the upgradation of the stadiums within the deadline, adding that the upgradation of stadiums will provide a better view to the spectators and they will enjoy more during the matches.
PCB COO Salman Naseer, CFO Javed Murtaza, directors and other officials attended the meeting.
