KABUL (Agencies): Acting Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Minister, Mawalvi Ataullah Omari met with the Director of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization FAO Richard Trenchard in Afghanistan.
The two sides discussed the coordination and implementation of joint projects and missions for the development of agriculture, livestock, and irrigation in Afghanistan, a statement said.
Acting Minister Omari hailed the efforts and support of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization with the farmers and ranchers of Afghanistan and said that the distribution of improved agricultural seeds, chemical fertilizer, and animal feed is commendable.
Meanwhile, the Ministry called for more support from FAO in building processing plants.
For his part, the Director FAO, Richard Trichardt, said about 31,000 metric tons of improved wheat seeds will be distributed to the farmers, as well as the distribution of animal feed and vegetable seeds is a part of the aid to farmers and farmers affected by the drought.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) is one of the cooperating organizations with the Ministry of Agriculture, which has assist farmers in in different sectors in the country.
