PESHAWAR: In a significant development towards Digital Pakistan, Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched the GP Fund Facilitation Cell to facilitate government employees. Initially the GP fund data of employees recruited since 2006 has been digitized.
Controller General of Accounts Pakistan Farrukh Ahmad Hamidi on Wednesday visited the office of Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar where he inaugurated GP Fund Facilitation Cell Phase I and Digital Conference Room. On his visit, Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Murtaza Khan briefed Farrukh Ahmad Hamidi on the performance of the different sections.
Addressing the inaugural function, Farrukh Ahmad Hamidi said that the launch of the new cell would get rid of the hassle of paperwork and make it easier for the employees. The same process of digitization is being repeated in other provinces including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that now with one click government employees will be able to access information related to their GP fund without any issue as now all matters have been digitized. He further said that the data of employees recruited before 2006 will be digitized in Phase II of GP Fund Facilitation Cell. In this regard, heavy duty scanners have been procured for data entry.
Regarding handling of office matters in an environmentally friendly manner, Controller General of Accounts Farrukh Ahmad Hamidi said that the said project would strengthen the paperless environment, transparency and accountability process while the completion of the project would benefit more than 0.5 million government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He lauded the performance of the Accountant General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that it is commendable to complete the digital process without any cost in the available resources.
The function was also attended by Deputy Auditor General and other senior officials. Certificates of Appreciation were also distributed among 87 employees and service providers for their outstanding performance.
Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Murtaza Khan in his address on the occasion said that with the establishment of GP Fund Facilitation Cell, now facilities are being provided under one roof. Furthermore, instead of weeks, the relevant file of any employee will be processed within 24 hours and upon completion of the file process, the concerned employee will also be informed via mobile message. He said that now with the transfer of any employee across the province, the salary would not be delayed. He added employee data will be available in each account circle on their personal number.
Pointing out the need to maintain transparency in better delivery of services, Murtaza Khan said that in order to maintain transparency, legal action has been taken on the basis of complaints as it is the mission to provide services at home doorstep instead of office doorstep. In order to promote transparency, more than 180 officers in the province have been rotated means right person for the right post. He said that Information and Complaints Redressal Cell has been set up for the convenience of all concerned including media while WhatsApp facility is also active for timely redressal of grievances.
