FATA merger in KP need of the hour: Bilour

ISLAMABAD (INP): Awami National Party (ANP) leader, Member National Assembly (MNA) Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has said that merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is need of the hour and not desire of any group.

Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Tuesday, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour alleged that the government was reluctant FATA merger due to pressure of Hazara Group as leadership of Hazara Group has expressed annoyance over proposed merger.

He said that though ANP was not in favour of creation of new province but issue of FATA was somewhat different and they were deprived of basic rights.

Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said that a committee was constituted to settle the FATA merger which surveyed the tribal areas and in its report, the committee also supported the merger of FATA in KP.

He said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mehmood Achakzai were also opposing the merger of FATA in KP on instruction of the government.

The ANP leader said that there were no universities, hospitals and sources of income in FATA and the tribal people were force to lead miserable lives under these circumstances.
