ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry claimed on Wednesday that opposition tried to buy loyalties of three of their MNAs in order to achieve the required numbers for the success of their planned no-trust motion in the National Assembly.
The minister was addressing a presser in Islamabad. He claimed that three of the government’s MNAs told them that the opposition offered them money to buy their loyalties. The MNAs included a member from minority seat and a female member of the National Assembly.
“it’s a very shameful act on the part of opposition that it is offering money for buying members of the parliament,” he said daring the opposition to bring no-confidence motion against the government in the next 24 hours.
The minister lamented that both the big political parties of the country wanted to bring back the tradition of horse trading.
“We will not let this happen. We are keeping an eye on the matter,” he added.
On Prime Minister Imran Khan’s two-day visit to Russia starting from today, Fawad said it was an extremely important visit. The whole world has fixed its eyes on the meeting between Prime Minister Khan and Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in Moscow.
He said the premier had elaborated yesterday that Pakistan did not want to become part of any group. He said the Ukrainian crisis should be handled very carefully as if this crisis grew it could entail food shortage. Russia and Ukraine produce over 40% of world’s wheat.
Afghanistan is facing food shortage and economic crisis and the whole world is praising Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan, Fawad said adding that the government wanted to follow a balanced foreign policy.
On Information and Technology Minister Aminul Haque’s criticism of the PECA Ordinance, the minister expressed his bewilderment saying how could he criticize the amendments when he himself was part of it! He said he would ask him what his reservations were.
