ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started e-filing of appeals and from January 1, 2021, there will be electronic filing of appeals.
According to a statement issued by the Federal Board of Revenue, the automation of the systems and the full convenience of the taxpayers are being ensured. Taxpayers will be able to file their appeals on the Iris web portal. According to the Prime Minister s statement, the Federal Board of Revenue in collaboration with Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited developed software for e-filing of appeals. In this regard, the views of various stakeholders including ICAP, ICMAP and PTBA were also sought.
Due to the system, taxpayers affected by the tax authorities orders will now be able to file their appeals on the Iris web portal. An automated system for e-filing of appeals will benefit both revenue and taxpayers. Under the Inland Revenue Act, the first appeal is filed with the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Appeals). Therefore, taxpayers affected by the orders of the Inland Revenue Tax Authority will now be able to file this first appeal online to the Commissioner (Appeals).
The FBR is working to ensure the automation of all its systems and the full convenience of taxpayers, and the convenience of filing appeals electronically is an important step in that direction.
