FBR committed to maximise tax compliance across country

KARACHI: On the directions of SAPM on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha and Chairman FBR Asim Ahmad, Member Public Relations Sardar Ali Khawja visited various large organizations in Lahore to highlight the importance of filing tax returns before the extended due date of November 30, 2022.

Continuing with FBR’s intensive drive to maximise tax compliance among eligible taxpayers across the country, Member PR met senior officials of, among others, GEPCO, SNGPL, PARCO, Bank of Punjab, Pepsi Co International, Coca Cola International, JDW Sugar Mills, Almoiz Industries, Nestle Pakistan and MCB. During his meetings, he highlighted the significance of filing returns by the eligible entities as well as by the employees of those organizations.

He apprised of various initiatives undertaken by FBR for facilitation of taxpayers including availability of 24/7 Helpline and mobile application. He said that FBR is committed to broaden the tax base and enhance revenue collection by bringing eligible taxpayers under the tax net.

Member PR also visited the head offices of Allied Bank and LESCO. Later, Member PR also visited Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). On the occasion, he met LCCI President Kashif Anwar, FPCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, office bearers and members of the Chamber. He also held a meeting with representatives of various trade bodies, tax bars and businessmen and encouraged them to file returns within due date.

During the aforesaid meetings, Member PR listened to the issues faced by the tax paying entities and assured of all possible cooperation for their resolution. He also suggested that large organizations should set up return filing desks at their respective workplaces for facilitation of their employees. LTO Lahore Chief Commissioner Mr. Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, RTO Lahore Chief Commissioner Mr. Nasir Iqbal, Commissioner Enforcement Mr. Aftab Alam and other senior officials were also present during the meetings.

Prior to Lahore, Member PR had visited Karachi and met senior management of K-Electric Limited, UBL, and NBP. He had also met senior officials of telecommunication company Mobilink in Islamabad. The focus of all these visits and meetings has been to raise awareness among eligible taxpayers and entities to file their tax returns before the extended date of 30th Nov, 2022.
