Federal cabinet to discuss 13-point agenda in today’s meeting

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will chair a federal cabinet in Islamabad to examine a 13-point agenda, on Tuesday.

According to details, the cabinet is scheduled to think over the matter of including thirty thousand Madrassas into the mainstream. Furthermore, the progress of various ministries will be examined in the meeting.

In an uncertain political scenario in the country when the opposition parties may exacerbate challenging behavior towards the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the cabinet is likely to formulate next political strategy as well.

In the month of Ramazan, steps for possible crackdown against hoarders and to curb virtual inflation would also be considered.

Besides, the agenda includes consideration of a summary to bifurcate Petroleum and Power Division as separate ministries.

The cabinet will also ratify the appointments and transfers of officers in the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.

Importantly, the federal cabinet will also analyze the issue of the recent hike in petroleum prices.

The meeting is also scheduled to discuss the changes for improving the current education system in the country, and formulating effective policies in this regard.

Moreover, members of the cabinet will consult each other the matter of the appointment of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The appointment of a new judge in the Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Karachi, and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan on the Labour Visa will also be approved.

The cabinet is also scheduled to approve Pak-Brazil and Pak-Azerbaijan agreements. The nomination of the governing body treasurer of the Iqbal Academy Lahore will be approved.

The annual report 2017-18 of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) will be presented before the cabinet for a review.

Lastly, the cabinet will approve decision made by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
