Female students worry about uncertain fate

KABUL (TOLOnews): Female students raised concerns over their lack of participation in the kankor exam a day after the results of the 1402 (solar year) were released. They said that they want to go to school and university like boys and play a role in society. Female students once again asked the Islamic Emirate to immediately open schools and universities for girls. “Yesterday, when the results were revealed, the girls’ names weren’t among the top 10. Every time the names of the females were on this list, but this time there were no girls, therefore we were quite sad,” said Bushra, a student. “It is very painful that a girl cannot continue her studies and get an education,” said Muzhgan, a student. Twenty-year-old Susan said that she had spent two years studying for the entrance exam, but she and her classmates were not permitted to take part in both rounds. “Girls get an education in the whole world, but in Afghanistan girls are not allowed to get an education or go to work. We ask the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools and universities so that girls can study,” said Susan, who graduated from the twelfth grade. The results of the university entrance exam for the solar year 1402 have been made public amid a great deal of criticism, despite the fact that women previously won first place in this exam in the solar years 1399 and 1400.
