FIA quizzes PTI Senator Saifullah Niazi

ISLAMABAD: The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing on Friday detained Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Senator Saifullah Niazi for questioning.

Sources in the FIA confirmed to 24News TV channel that the senator had been detained from the premises of Senate.

Sources further disclosed that the PTI senator was taken for questioning for operating an “unapproved” website which was used to raise funds for the party from illegal sources.

It is pertinent to mention here that previously too the FIA’s cyber crime team had raided Niazi’s home during which it confiscated his cellphone and a laptop.

The FIA has received all forensic report of Laptop and other technical gadgetries collected from Niazi’s house a few days back. On the basis of that the FIA team is questioning him. He is still being questioned at a separate place and not brought to any police station.

Uptil now no FIR has been lodged, the sources said. Reportedly some evidences have been retrieved in forensic test.

PTI denounces FIA move

While reacting to the arrest of Senator Saifullah Niazi, the PTI leaders have denounced it as illegal.

The PTI leaders including Farrukh Habib, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar and Iftikhar Durrani lashed out at the government for arresting Mr Niazi from the parliament premises terming it a disgrace of the house.

Reacting to the arrests of PTI leaders, former information minister and senior party leader Fawad Chaudhry said “From yesterday’s press conference of Shehbaz Sharif and the subsequent arrests of Tariq Shafi, Hamid Zaman and Saif Niazi, it can be seen that the government is getting jittery. It it is scared of the announcement of Real Long March.”

In a tweet uploaded on Friday Fawad said “The government is on the verge of collapse. Waiting for the final push, the workers should get ready.”
