ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has planned to establish ten more Cyber Crime Centers across the country to deal with technology based crimes.
National Response Centre for Cyber Crime (NR3C), is the latest introduction to mandate of the FIA, primarily to deal with technology based crimes and It is the only unit of its kind in the country and in addition to the directly received complaints also assists other law enforcement agencies in their own cases, an official said.FIA Cyber Crimes Director captain (R) Mohammad Shoaib Monday told APP that the force of 114 officials including 10 experts are working in the cyber crime centers in all provincial capitals.
In phase III 10 more cyber crime centers will be established comprising of 416 trained officials. “FIA is in the process of inducting women investigators to resolve this problem and we have also introduced toll free helpline for women for their convenience. “He added. He said “One of the reasons for a high number of inquiries is that in most cases complainants, especially women, did not come forward to follow up on alleged offenses committed against them” People who are involve committing cyber crime through Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram would be Punishment for 1 year to 5 years and monetary punishment is from 100,000 to 500,000 under the act.
