First commercial goods plane lands in Mazar

MAZAR-E-SHARIF (TOLOnews): For the first time since the Islamic Emirate came to power, a plane carrying commercial goods from the United Arab Emirates landed at Mazar-e-Sharif International Airport.

Officials of the airport said that in this flight, 16 tons of Afghan businessmen’s property, most of which are electrical appliances, were transferred.

Abdullah Mutmaeen, director of Mazar-e-Sharif International Airport Customs, said: “This is the first time that goods have arrived from Dubai to Mazar-e-Sharif Airport, and we hope that the goods of other businessmen will also come through the airport. The goods that arrived today are 16 tons.”

The Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment and a number of businessmen called the renewed activity of the air corridor to be beneficial for the export and import of commercial goods and called for the continuation of this process.

Asadullah Asadi, the head of Balkh chamber of commerce and investment, said: “Transfers by air cargo were very effective for the exporting of businesspeople’s goods, especially pine nuts and hing, and the import of valuable goods. It has been three years since this process was stopped and the fact and its resumption will be effective for the timely transfer of commercial property.”

“We wish that air corridors would operate permanently for our important exports and imports, so that our businessmen and exporters could use the air corridors to transfer their commercial goods to distant countries and to transfer our goods in other countries’ markets,” said Khairuddin Mayel, a trader.

The Islamic Emirate continuously states it is making an effort to support and provide more facilities for businesspeople in the country.
