Five doctors of Mardan Medical complex suspended

MARDAN: Relevant authorities of Mardan Medical Complex here on Sunday suspended five doctors and three nurse staff over their failure to provide timely treatment to a pregnant woman who gave birth to a girl baby outside labour-room of the said health facility.

The new-born baby died soon after her birth as the pregnant woman was laying helplessly in veranda outside the labour-room at the time of her delivery.

Sabir-u-Rehman-relative of the woman- told that the patient was suffering from severe delivery pains when they took her to the gyne-ward of Mardan Medical Complex. He alleged that lady doctors in the ward did not pay any heed to the patient as they were busy in their gossip.

He, however, told that they time and again asked the doctors to provide relevant treatment to their patient but the doctors replied to bring the patient to hospital after one-day for delivery.

He deplored that their patient gave birth to girl-baby outside the labour-room in veranda when they came out of the gyne-ward because the pregnant woman could not move any more due to her severe delivery pains.

He alleged that the baby-girl died instantly owing to non-provision of timely treatment by gyne doctors and nurses of the relevant ward.

Relatives of the pregnant woman held a protest demonstration outside the gyne-ward after the delivery case in open veranda and death of the baby-girl.

Later, the relevant authorities of Mardan Medical Complex suspended five lady doctors including Dr. Saima Amin, Dr Nuzhat Ishfaq, Dr. Muzhda, Dr. Nazia and Dr. Maria and three nurse staff named Mst. Rukhsana, Mst Ghazala and Mst Shaisata.

Besides, a two-member committee had also been constituted to probe in to the incident happened outside the labor-room. The committee members were included Dr. Muhammad Said and Dr Tamjeed Gul.
