Five killed, three injured in suicide attack on mosque in Nigeria

Monitoring Desk

KANO: At least five people were killed and three others were injured when a female suicide bomber blew herself up in a mosque in northern Nigeria in the town of Dikwa.

The terrorist group Boko Haram claimed the responsibility of the attack and storming the mosques on Tuesday.

Ibrahim Liman, leader of the local militia fighting alongside the Nigerian army against the terrorist group, told media that female bomber attacked the mosque during the morning prayers and he blamed the Boko Haram who have become notorious for such kind of attacks.

The Boko Haram jihadist group has increasingly used suicide bombers, mostly women and young girls, to attack military checkpoints and soft targets including mosques, schools, motor parks and displaced camps.

In February 2016, at least 58 people were killed and 78 injured when two female bombers struck at a camp in Dikwa housing people displaced by the Boko Haram violence.
