FAISALABAD: Five lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PM-L-N) have submitted their resignations to Pir of Sial Sharif Muhammad Hameed-uddin on Sunday.
The resignations were announced during Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (finality of the Prophethood) conference at Dhobi Ghat ground.
The move came during the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) Conference of Sunni Ittehad Council in Faisalabad’s Dhobi Ghaat Ground
Here are names of five PML-N lawmakers who tendered resignations: Ghulam Bibi Bharwana from Jhang (Member National Asse-mbly), Dr Nisar Ahmed Jutt from Faisalabad (Member National Assembly), Mau-lana Rehmatullah from Chi-not (Member Provincial Assembly), Ghulam Nizam-uddin Sialvi from Sarghodha (Member Provincial Asse-mbly), and Muhammad Khan Baloch from Jhang (Member Provincial Assembly).
In his brief address to participants of the conference, Pir Sialvi said he is not a political person and the agenda of calling this conference solely revolves around finality of the Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat).
“As firm believers of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, we gathered with no intention of soliciting support for elections or a political agenda,” Sialvi said.
As many as 25 councillors and chairmen of Punjab uni-on councils are also expected to submit their resignations.
Earlier, a spokesperson of Sial Sharif shrine claimed participation of numerous caretakers of shrines to call for immediate resignation of the Punjab law minister.
The spokesperson also vowed to step up their campaign over non-fulfillment of their prime demand, resignation of Rana Sanaullah.
PML-N MNA Ghulam Bi-bi Bharwana announced her resignation from the party.
Similarly, Qamarul Haq said that on behalf of his father, MPA Maulana Rehma-tullah, he announced to sacrifice the provincial assembly seat.
PML-N MNA Nisar Jutt gave Pir Sialvi the power to decide his political future, as did MPA Ghulam Niazuddin Sialvi, who said he’s willing to sacrifice thousands of ‘seats’ for the Finality of Prophethood (PBUH).
