Floods in Zabul province leave 10 dead

ZABUL (Ariana News): Devastating floods that swept through a number of districts in Zabul province on Sunday night have left at least ten people dead, officials confirmed Monday.

According to Zabihullah Jawohar, Zabul Police Command spokesman, heavy rain caused the floods in the city of Qalat and districts in the province.

Speaking to Ariana News, Jawohar said security forces were mobilized to help in rescue operations.

He also said eight of the dead were nomads.

Afghanistan has been particularly hard hit by floods in the past few months, which experts are attributing to climate change.

Currently, the country is experiencing more extreme weather, erratic rainfall patterns, and increased temperatures, all contributing to more frequent and severe flooding.
