Flour, sugar prices down in Kabul

KABUL: The prices of sugar and flour dipped down during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Saturday. Food Traders’ Union head, Fazal Rahman, told Afghan News the price of a 49 kilograms bag of Pakistani sugar decreased from 1,600 afghanis to 1, 580 afghanis and a 50-kilogarm of Kazakhstani flour decreased from 1,090 afghanis to 1,080 afghanis.

However, he said the price of 16-liter Khurshid ghee 1,020 afghnis and the price of a 24-kilogram sack of Pakistani rice 2,000 afghanis, the same price as last week’s. Noor Ahmad Khirkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs, the same rates as last week’s.

Ahmad Wali Panjshiri, who owns a grocery store in Dahn-i-Bagh area, said a 49kg back of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,140afs, a 49 sack of Pakistani sugar 1,700afs, a 16-liter Khurshid ghee 1,100 afghanis, the price of a 24-kilogram sack of Pakistani rice 2,200 afghanis, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 300afs and the same amount of African black tea 350afs—higher than wholesale rates. Fuel prices remain unchanged. Abdul Hadi, a worker at the Wazir Abad Fuel Station, said one litre of diesel cost 42fs and the same quantity of petrol 44afs, the same rates as last week’s.

Meanwhile, Ahmadullah, a gas seller in Kolola Pushta area of Kabul, said one kilogram of gas cost 45afs, the same as last week’s. Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in the Timor Shahi area of Kabul, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 2,400afs and the same quantity of the Russian variety 1,850afs. According to Sara-i-Shahzada Moneychanger Union, one US dollar accounted for 68.50 and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 5.90 against last week’s rates of 69.40afs and 600afs.
