F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday held a farewell meeting with outgoing Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.

Paying homage to Janjua, the foreign minister said her exceptional services for Pakistan and the Foreign Ministry will always be remembered.

“Specially, for Pakistani women, Tehmina Janjua is a role model. She worked as a skillful and principled secretary,” Qureshi said.

Ms Janjua expressed gratitude to the minister for his acknowledgement.

For 35 years, Tehmina Janjua has served in the Foreign Ministry. She was the first woman in Pakistan’s history to hold the post of a foreign secretary.

Following Janjua’s retirement, former High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood has taken over as the new Foreign Secretary of Pakistan earlier today.

After assuming his office, the foreign secretary met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal.
