ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a telephonic conversation with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi and exchanged views over global efforts to prevent spread of the Coronavirus.
Qureshi, on behalf of Pakistan and its people, expressed grief over loss of precious human lives in Indonesia due to global pandemic.
He also appreciated Indonesia’s timely measures to contain spread of the virus.
Apprising about Pakistan’s efforts to face the global challenge of COVID-19, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said we are emphasizing on maintaining social distancing to limit the outbreak of the pandemic.
He said COVID-19 is adversely impacting the global economy and countries with meager resources are facing immense difficulties to face this challenge. He informed his Indonesian counterpart about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s suggestion of restructuring loans to support economies of the developing countries so that they can utilize their resources to save precious human lives and to prevent the disease.
Qureshi apprised the seriousness of the situation in Occupied Kashmir in the wake of COVID-19. He said India has besieged eight million innocent people of Occupied Kashmir by imposing illegal curfew.
He stressed the need for urging Indian leadership to immediately end the illegal detention of the Kashmiri people so that provision of food and medicines can be ensured to them.
