FM Qureshi to depart for Japan on two-day visit on 22 April

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will leave for Japan on April 22 on two-day long visit for reinvigorating bilateral ties between the friendly countries.

According to local news report, FM Qureshi will start visit to Japan from April 22. The Foreign Office (FO) confirmed the schedule of the trip in a statement issued after Japanese envoy Kuninori Matsuda called on Foreign Minister Qureshi on Tuesday.

FO said that “The Japanese Ambassador briefed the Foreign Minister about his upcoming visit to Japan on the invitation of H. E. Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, from 22-23 April 2019”.

Mr Qureshi was scheduled to visit Tokyo from Feb 24 to 27, but it was postponed owing to escalation in tensions with India.

The FO statement read, Pakistan has a traditional friendly relationship with Japan. The minister’s visit to Japan is expected to further deepen the friendly relations between the two countries.

During the meeting yesterday with Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda, Qureshi said Japan has been supporting Pakistan in its progress and development in various fields, and Pakistan gives high value to this bilateral relations.
