FO Condemns Islamophobic Remarks of BJP Leader

Muhammad Asad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan strongly condemned the recent Islamophobic remarks by a BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Karnataka, K S Eshwarappa, and also denounced the proposed plan for the closure of 600 religious seminaries in India.

While responding to a media query at her weekly news briefing on Friday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, categorically declared these remarks another manifestation of the rising Islamophobia in the neighboring country.

According to Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Pakistan is deeply concerned about the alarming rise in communal violence, racism and faith-based crimes, and violence against Muslims in India.

The Spokesperson called on India to take immediate steps to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of minorities including Muslims, and provide them with a peaceful and conducive environment to profess and practice their faith in its country.

To another question question regarding putting some conditions on Pakistan’s nuclear and missile program by the IMF ahead of the proposed revival of EFF program for Pakistan, she categorically noted that the issue of Pakistan’s nuclear program is not on the agenda with any government, any financial institution, or any international organization.

While responding to a media query, Mumtaz Baloch said that Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic and economic partners, while China is a consistent and generous steadfast friend of Pakistan for the past several decades.

According to her, Pakistan and China always consult closely on all matters and find the optimal results, while China has always come to Pakistan’s assistance whenever needed including in this difficult economic situation.

The people of Pakistan are proud of Pakistan’s all seasons friendship with China, added Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.
