Fog leads to cancellation of 30 flights at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD: As many as 30 flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other national and international flights had to be cancelled after dense fog disrupted the flights’ operation at the Islamabad International Airport on Wednesday.

The flights, which were cancelled, had to shuttle between Islamabad and Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, Islamabad and Beijing, Islamabad and Sharjah, Islamabad and Riyadh and Islamabad and Jeddah.

Similarly, PIA’s flights to Gilgit and Skardu were delayed for several hours.

The situation is no different with the flights of other airlines such as SereneAir, Airblue and AirSial which were delayed for over 12 hours.

PIA’s incoming flight from Dubai landed at the airport after a delay of 18 hours.

On the other hand, the airport’s management said that the flight’s operation would resume as soon as visibility improved.
